Executive Director's Update June 2008 For those of you that might be interested in attending the Fab Productivity Panel preceding SEC/N’s seminar on July 16th, Click Here for additional information on the program and sponsors. I would like to formally welcome Evergreen Enhancement Inc. as SEC/N’s newest member. The Founder and CEO of Evergreen Enhancement is Mr. William Kerr. Look for more information about Evergreen Enhancement in SEC/N’s upcoming Newsletter. Speaking of the Newsletter, for the past couple of years Bridgett Wright (Catalyst Equipment) has been assembling and formatting the articles for SEC/N’s Quarterly Newsletter. An untimely and unfortunate bolt of Texas lightning recently smoked Bridgett’s computer. Bridgett’s OK but her computer is suffering. As a result, we will be delaying the Q3 Edition of the Newsletter until after SEMICON West. Given the costs involved and with only two member companies showing an interest in being seminar sponsors, SEC/N has decided not to host a seminar at this year’s SEMICON Taiwan (September 9-11). SEC/N continues to recognize the Taiwan region as a key component of the Asia semiconductor secondary market and will continue to pursue future opportunities as they come available. SEC/N’s plans for SEMICON Europa (October 7-9) are close to being finalized. SEC/N will be exhibiting at Booth #1546 in Hall One and hosting a reception in the space adjacent to our booth. In addition, SEC/N will be co-hosting a seminar on secondhand equipment at SEMICON Europa that will be open to the public. We are still in need more SEC/N member sponsors who in addition to the publicity, will also be invited to participate in the SEC/N seminar. The following companies have already committed to be sponsors: AG Semi, ASML, Entrepix, M+W Zander, Retronix, and SurplusGLOBAL. SEC/N was founded in 1998 based on a need for increased emphasis on
standards, ethics, and a forum by which companies would be able to
collectively address common issues. Over the first five years, the
continued growth and evolution of the semiconductor industry’s secondary
market necessitated a refocusing of SEC/N, resulting in the
reincorporation of SEC/N in 2003 as a 501 (c)(6) nonprofit organization.
In response to member input and recognition of the secondary market’s continued global evolution, SEC/N’s leadership has been looking into ways of enhancing the membership value of SEC/N for its members around the world, as well as finding more effective way to serve the semiconductor industry. We would like to thank all SEC/N members who have contributed their insights throughout this process. I am happy to report that progress is being made and we appreciate everyone’s continued interest and support. Best Regards, |
