SEMICON Europa - April 12 - 14, 2005

SEMICON Europa, now into its third decade, was held April 12th–14th at the New Munich Trade Fair Center just outside of Munich, Germany. The Show covered the majority of three halls, one of which was dedicated to Final Manufacturing. SEC/N exhibited in Hall A1, Booth #715.

Twelve of SEC/N’s member companies volunteered to help staff this year’s SEC/N Booth. They included:

Special thanks go out to ASML (Ron Melief and Jos Vreeker) for volunteering to be SEC/N’s Event Champions for SEMICON Europa this year. Their booth and reception planning, plus participation during the Show, was quite comprehensive and very much appreciated. A special thanks is also due Trudy Alexander for sacrificing her “touring time” to assist in SEC/N’s Booth all three days.

New to SEC/N’s Booth display this time was a PowerPoint Slide Show. The presentation was very well received and with enhanced graphics and a larger color monitor, we hope to make it an ongoing feature at SEC/N’s Booths in the future. The Slide Show repeated every two minutes. Thanks to Rite Track Europe for contributing their monitor. Included in the presentation were:

  • Information about SEC/N
  • Names of SEC/N’s Board of Directors / Committee Chairpersons and Executive Director
  • A list of all SEC/N member companies
  • A list of SEC/N member companies who volunteered representatives for Booth support and the times that each company would be available in the Booth
  • Special recognition for ASML as SEC/N’s Event Champion and Macquarie Electronics for sponsoring the reception

On Wednesday evening (July 13th), Macquarie Electronics sponsored a very elegant and successful reception at the SEC/N Booth. The reception was enjoyed by almost 100 attendees, which included both representatives from SEC/N member companies and invited guests. In addition to food and drink, the event featured a significant amount of networking and new contacts. Thanks to Macquarie Electronics for a great time..

SEC/N’s growth of member companies in Europe, coupled with the interest and commitment of other new companies at the Show, provides an excellent base from which to launch SEC/N’s European Regional Council (ERC). Ron Melief (ASML) has volunteered to champion the formation of the ERC and plans to set up the first organization meeting within the next 60 days. Please contact Ron () directly if your company has an interest in participating.

SEMICON Europa 2006 is planned for April 4-6. SEC/N selected a booth location in Hall A1 (#179) but is also on the list to upgrade if the opportunity exists.
